Extracellular Applications Utilizing Glass Microelectrodes
For rare instances when using extracellular amplifiers with glass, you could use the setup shown below. In this setup, a DAM80 is shown, but you could easily substitute an ISO-80. Likewise, this setup shows the 2505 handle (1/4" - 6.3mm), but if you have a smaller micromanipulator, you may need the 5444 handle (3/16" - 4.8mm). In this illustration, MEH7W-10 is used, but any glass-size MEH7W could be used. (MEH7W-10 is 1.0mm glass, MEH7W-12 is 1.2mm glass, MEH7W-15 is 1.5mm glass and MEH7W-20 is 2.0mm glass.) EP2 is used for grounding in the illustration.
For single-ended applications, however, a 2033 wire adapter on the black connector socket can be connected to the 3294 cable. The tip used depends on your specific needs. In the illustration, TIP1TW1 was suggested. NOTE that the glass is not shown in the illustration below.
DAM80P
Replacement probe for DAM80 Bioamplifier
- Metal microelectrode adapter #5469 included with probe
TIP1TW1
Pre-Pulled Glass Pipettes - 1µm ID 10/pk
- Plain Shank
- Tip ID: 1 µm
- Glass OD: 1.0 mm
- Filament: No
- Fire Polished: Yes
- Pipette individually vacuum packed
- 10 per package
Pipettes are fabricated from Schott Duran borosilicate glass. Tip inner diameter tolerance +/- 20%. Short taper yields high strength. Nominal length approximately 50 mm. OD:ID ratio is 1.33:1.
A Certificate of Compliance is available for these microtips, please request one when placing your order.

ISO-80P
Replacement ISO-80 Probe
ISO-80P is a high impedance probe that can be plugged into the PROBE INPUT socket of the ISO-80. Insert the electrodes that will connect with the preparation/subject under test into the two sockets—one red, one black—on the probe. The probe headstage is epoxy encapsulated within a miniature gold plated metal case. The use of a probe, close to a recording site, minimizes the shunt capacity normally associated with long wire leads from the electrode to the amplifier.
CAUTION: The probe headstage is sensitive to static discharge and can be damaged by a high voltage shock.
